Having a 5 year old (my youngest!) is a lot of fun- the more complex thought processes are there, though sometimes the words don't process like he would like them to!
The other morning, I had just gotten out of bed and he was asking me to make toast for him. I told him to have his sister get it started for him, and that I hadn't even put my contacts in yet.
About 5 minutes later, I walked into the kitchen and he said to me, "Mommy, I thought you didn't have your tonsils in yet?".
He also says the Pledge of Allegiance. It's hilarious! Most of the words flow freely, though he often stumbles on the word 'indivisible'. It's more like in-a-bis-a-blahech. Quite funny! Not as funny, though, as when he says 'with wizard cheese, and justice, for all' instead of 'liberty and justice for all'.
Nothing tops, though, the story my mother told me the other day. She is a substitute teachers aide, and loves working with the Pre-K group. The other day, a little boy, 4 years old, apparently said 'butt' in class. Another little girl pointed it out to my mother, who promptly told the little boy that you don't say that at school. He said ok, then proceeded to say: "Well, do you know what it means? It means a$$!", to which my mother told him that you don't say that at school either! :)
